SCHOOLS

 Mission
The Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Syracuse carry out the mission of Jesus Christ proclaiming the Gospel and forming students in a faith that is "living, conscious, and active" in accordance with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. The schools are also committed to fostering academic excellence in a Christ-centered environment.

Environment
The moral environment of a school teaches students respect for God, themselves, and others. The Catholic identity is the focal point for all the activities of the school. Parish priests frequently meet with students to make class presentations or to celebrate liturgy. The small caring atmosphere of the Catholic school is truly that of an extended family

Education
Students in Catholic Schools consistently score above their peers in national tests. Catholic schools in the Diocese of Syracuse administer the California Achievement Tests in Grades K-8. High schools in the Diocese administer the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT), the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and the American College Testing Program

Activities
Extracurricular and athletic activities enhance the academic and spiritual programs of the Catholic school by providing students with opportunities to develop and further apply skills learned in the classroom. These activities also provide students opportunities to learn how to work cooperatively with others as members of a team. Such experiences bolster students' self-esteem and enable students to develop social skills as well.
